Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approximately 6 oz / 170g each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (2.5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (2.5 ml)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon paprika (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 ml)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder (5 ml)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (5 ml)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (2.5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper (2.5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2.5 ml)
Instructions:
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Place each breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to an even ½-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Whisk to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
- Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil. Sprinkle evenly with the Cajun seasoning mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot skillet, ensuring they aren't overcrowded.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a clean plate. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken, if desired.
- Slice the chicken and serve immediately. Cajun chicken recipe Easy Cajun.
