Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Basmati rice (200 g)
  • 1.5 cups water (360 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or ghee (optional) (14 g)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (2 g)

Instructions:

  1. Place the Basmati rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Transfer the rinsed rice to a bowl, cover with water, and let soak for at least 30 minutes.
  3. After soaking, drain the rice again before cooking.
  4. In a medium saucepan, bring 1.5 cups of water to a gentle boil. Add salt and butter or ghee if using.
  5. Add the drained rice to the boiling water, stir gently to combine. Cover with a lid and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. After 15 minutes, remove from heat, let it sit for another 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork before serving.
