Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef, lean
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic over medium heat until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Drain excess fat and mix in beef broth, frozen vegetables, salt, pepper, and paprika; let simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly, then stir in milk until just combined.
  7. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese into the biscuit dough.
  8. Pour the beef mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading evenly.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the beef mixture.
  10. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
