- 1 loaf of French bread (about 12 ounces/340 grams)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 1 cup pizza sauce (240 ml)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces/225 grams)
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni (70 grams) or other preferred toppings (mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (2 grams)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (3 grams)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Place the halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
- Brush each half lightly with olive oil.
- Evenly spread pizza sauce on each bread half.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your choice of toppings, ensuring even coverage.
- Sprinkle oregano and garlic powder over the toppings.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice into portions and garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
