Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread (about 12 ounces/340 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (240 ml)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces/225 grams)
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni (70 grams) or other preferred toppings (mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (2 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (3 grams)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Place the halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush each half lightly with olive oil.
  4. Evenly spread pizza sauce on each bread half.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your choice of toppings, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Sprinkle oregano and garlic powder over the toppings.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice into portions and garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
