Ingredients:
- 225 g unsalted butter, softened
- 150 g brown sugar, packed
- 100 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (about 60 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (5 g)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2.5 g)
- 200 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer or a whisk to cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and add the vanilla extract, mixing well until fully incorporated.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix on low speed or fold gently with a spatula until just combined; do not overmix!
- Use a spatula to fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly into the cookie dough.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto your prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie as they will spread while baking.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 12–15 minutes or until edges are golden brown but centers still look slightly soft.
