  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  2. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in buttermilk until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 30 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. In another bowl, mix crumbled breakfast sausage with softened butter.
  8. Roll the rested dough into a rectangle (approximately 12x15 inches).
  9. Spread the sausage mixture evenly on the rolled dough.
  10. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the sausage layer.
  11. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  12. Cut the log into 8 equal pieces.
  13. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Place rolls in a parchment-lined baking sheet; cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
  15. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  16. Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  17. Drizzle the glaze over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
