Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add eggs and warm milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add softened butter while kneading until smooth and elastic (about 8–10 minutes). You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment if desired.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1–2 hours).
  5. In a small pan over medium heat, combine diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Cook until slightly softened (around five minutes). Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle about half an inch thick.
  7. Evenly distribute cooled apple mixture over rolled-out dough.
  8. Starting from one edge of the rectangle, tightly roll up into a log shape.
  9. Cut logs into even pieces (about an inch thick) using dental floss or sharp knife.
  10. Grease or line your baking dish with parchment paper.
