Ingredients:

  • 2 cups masa harina (240g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (3g)
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (300ml)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine masa harina and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal balls.
  6. Preheat the skillet over medium heat.
  7. If using a tortilla press, place a ball between two pieces of plastic wrap and press until thin. If using a rolling pin, roll out between two sheets of wax paper.
  8. Place each tortilla on the hot skillet.
  9. Cook for about 30 seconds on each side until lightly browned and fragrant.
  10. Transfer cooked tortillas to a clean kitchen towel and wrap to keep warm until ready to serve.
