Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt
  • 1 teaspoon (3g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (3g) ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Combine water, butter, salt, and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and immediately add flour. Stir vigorously until a smooth ball forms.
  3. Let the dough cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in vanilla extract. The dough should be smooth and pipeable.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe desired length churros directly into the preheated air fryer basket, leaving space between each.
  7. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. While the churros are cooking, combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  9. Immediately after removing from the air fryer, toss the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  10. Serve warm with your favourite dipping sauce (optional).
