Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 box (14.1 oz / 400g) refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts), thawed
  • 1 tablespoon milk or egg wash
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Combine diced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, melted butter, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Add water and stir until well combined.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface. Unroll the pie crusts and gently roll them out slightly.
  3. Using a 3-4 inch round cookie cutter or bowl, cut out 12 circles from the pie crust (6 for the bottom, 6 for the top). Reroll scraps to get as many circles as possible.
  4. Place 6 crust circles on a flat surface. Spoon apple filling evenly onto the center of each circle, leaving a small border.
  5. Top each pie with another crust circle. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal. Cut a small slit in the top of each pie to allow steam to escape.
  6. Brush the tops of the pies with milk or egg wash. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes. Carefully place the pies in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches).
  8. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the Air Fryer Apple Pies cool slightly before serving
  9. Let the pies cool slightly in the air fryer basket before transferring them to a wire rack to cool further. Serve warm.
