Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn), peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 box (14.1 oz / 400g) refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts), thawed
- 1 tablespoon milk or egg wash
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, for sprinkling
Instructions:
- Combine diced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, melted butter, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Add water and stir until well combined.
- Lightly flour a clean surface. Unroll the pie crusts and gently roll them out slightly.
- Using a 3-4 inch round cookie cutter or bowl, cut out 12 circles from the pie crust (6 for the bottom, 6 for the top). Reroll scraps to get as many circles as possible.
- Place 6 crust circles on a flat surface. Spoon apple filling evenly onto the center of each circle, leaving a small border.
- Top each pie with another crust circle. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal. Cut a small slit in the top of each pie to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the tops of the pies with milk or egg wash. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes. Carefully place the pies in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches).
- Air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the Air Fryer Apple Pies cool slightly before serving
- Let the pies cool slightly in the air fryer basket before transferring them to a wire rack to cool further. Serve warm.
